DMO; reporting service pack levels

  • I'm writing an app using DMO to extract basic info. about my servers. (part of a change control app).

A key element in this is being able to ascertain the service pack level of each level. I can extract the Version Number (7, 8 etc) no worries, but can't find a property that will report the sp level, (and yes I know this is part of the version string)

    any ideas?

  • Unfortunately Microsoft does not have anything that says V7 SP3, you have to go and get the list of release versions and compare to version string to determine.

  • Column8, would you mind posting or sending me your DMO code used to scan for the differences of SQL2K and SQL7. I am new to DMO and I am trying to scan the network for instances for licensing issues.

    Thanks -

  • Just DMO won't be enough, servers don't have to publish themselves so you could have a hidden server running SQL. Haven't thought about a good way to find ALL of them!
