Hi All,
I am about to provide the plan for Disaster Recovery.
Anyone could advice me the Best practices to be followed for Disaster Recovery.

Here's some of the processes we went throught to produce a DR plan :
Work out what systems need to be available in the event of a disaster and in which order they need to be recovered - you may be able to live without some systems for a while if necessary
Work out what disasters you are protecting against - server down, server room down, building down etc
Work out what dependencies the systems you are protecting have and what happens if they go down - if you protect a system that relies on unprotected systems you may have additional problems
Work out how much it costs your company when the systems you are interested go down - will give you a guage on how important a system is and how much to spend to protect it. These costs may be loss of business or reduction in work
Work out the risk of the various disasters - spending millions to protect against an extremely unlikely event may not be cost effective
Work out the most cost effective technology that will reduce the risk of the disaster having an impact - maybe a cluster will be ok, maybe a second site is required. Maybe some systems need more protection than others
Work out where your DR site will be - same campus? same town? Do you need a DR site?
Work out what will consistute as a disaster and will invoke the DR plan - invoking the plan may be costly
Work out who will need to be involved if there is a disaster - make sure they know what to do
Work out lines of communication in event of a disaster - don't panic!
Don't forget about locations of documents, media, backups, staff - if your DR plan goes up in smoke you have a problem
Work out how to move back from the DR site to the main site if it is available
Practice the plan !
