  • You are getting the error because there is no way for the SSAS instance to communicate with your local database in order to refresh the data.

  • Sorry, my bad...thought that you meant an SSAS instance in the cloud when you said "remote". Assumptions...

    Definitely looks like a security/permissions error. When you execute it locally, it runs within the context of your user account. When running from the server (or deployed SSIS package) however, the user context under which it is running probably does not have permissions to the source database. Edit the connection properties within the deployed version on your remote SSAS instance. Make sure you impersonate and try different options (windows and sql accounts) to see if that brings you any closer.
