[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen(Connect()).]Specified SQL server not found.

  • ADB.Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server

    Open Database

    Return code -245755

    [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen(Connect()).]Specified SQL server not found.

    I get this error whenever trying to open the Juris client application (I work in a law firm).  This error ONLY occurs on *1* single machine no matter who you try to log in as, everyone else's works.

    I BELIEVE this program used to work, until my co-worker installed something, but I could be wrong.  And she doesnt remember what it was that she had done at the time it had stopped working.

    Any ideas on what broke?  We tried re-installing the program and replacing the .dlls from another computer (also using Win 2k), as well as trying a registry 'fix' we had found on the net.  Nothing worked.  After scanning for viruses and installing all Windows updates, I don't know what else to do.  I'm not (BY FAR) an SQL expert...

    Please help!  Thanks.

  • Okay. I found a difference between the two computers in the ODBC Data Source Administrator -> Juris2 (Driver: SQL Server) -> Configure. The default login was set to "With Windows NT authentication using the network login ID." The computer that works had it set to "With SQL Server authentication using a login ID and password entere by the user."

    However, when i both tried to change it to the same setup of the other computer and hit next, or when i left it on the same settings and hit next, it threw this error:

    Connection failed:

    SQLState: '01000'

    SQL Server Error: 10110

    [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionIpen(Connect()).

    Connection failed:

    SQLState: '08001'

    SQL Server Error: 6

    [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]Specified SQL Server not found.

    Since i couldn't hit next, i have no idea if other settings are awry.

  • From the system that's not working, can you ping the SQL Server? If you can, start up the Client Configuration (clicnfg.exe) and check the Aliases tab. See if someone has defined the SQL Server there.
