DBMail profile

  • Hi,

I want to use DBMail to send emails, and to have the reply address as something like NoReply@mydomain.com so that users will not reply to the email. On my home laptop I managed to setup such a DBMail profile by specifying the smtp server from my ISP and the email address described and the emails where sent successfully.

However when I try to do the same from my clients server (and specifying their exchange box as the server name) with an email address that doesn't exist, the emails don't get sent. If I use the same profile but specify an existing email address with the same profile the emails do get delivered.

Is there a way of sending via DBMail from a non existent email address in this situation.

    Thanks

  • Any error messages in the database mail log? Where are putting the non-existent account, E-Mail Address or Reply e-mail? I have tested this at my shop and it works if you you the Reply e-mail.

  • Jack,

Thanks, it was good to know that what I wanted to achieve was possible. Your response prompted me to do some more investigation and it turned out I hadn't configured the profile correctly. I've now got it working perfectly so when I specify my "No Response" profile with sp_send_dbmail the emails are being delivered with a "NoReply@xxxxx.com" as the reply address.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Regards,

    Simon
