DBMail Impersonation (Security)

  • My aim is to send a *.pdf document containing sensitive information via a secure network using DBMail.

Our mail server is not suitable to send the *.pdf document. So, I have obtained login credentials on a secure email network. This secure network is currently used within my place of work, although never used in an automated process. The secure network is accessible via a web browser, although it can be setup with Outlook 2010.

Using these credentials I have setup a profile within DBMail. Within my automated process i request DBMail to use the secure profile and send the required email(s). I have tested the process which works as expected.

My question, does the email actually get sent from my works Email Server (not secure) and impersonate the secure profile account. Or actually use the DBMail profile (secure) credentials?

I have checked the email headers received and sent and they appear to have been sent using the secure profile. If totally honest I'm unsure, worried and require assistance.

    Thank you all in advance...

    PS

I cannot encrypt the documents, business rule!
