Question should be straight forward and clear and should test concepts.
Tricky wording (database files/data files ) should be avoided , which does not make any sense

And here it is quite clear that the question and answer have a concepy of "default" that has no connection with SQL Server reality.

I don't think that's tricky wording, it's pretty much standard usage.
