Database mail configuration - Exchange Server + Port number

  • Hi All,

What is the port number for Exchange Server to configure database mail?

How can I find the port number?

    Please advise.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Ravi.

  • as Database mail uses SMTP the default is port 25, but your exchange admins can change it so you are best speaking to them

If you have configured Outlook client in the PC for that account, you can check Outlook settings.

  • Thanks for your reply.

I have tried all the below settings, but still it's not working..throwing the below error

The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 3 (2012-04-24T07:29:10). Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (Failure sending mail.).

    POP setting

    Server name: xxxxxxxxx

    Port: 995

    Encryption method: SSL

    IMAP setting

    Server name: xxxxxxxxx

    Port: 993

    Encryption method: SSL

    SMTP setting

    Server name: xxxxxxxxx

    Port: 587

    Encryption method: TLS

Please advise on this and also let me know how I can check the communication between dbserver and exchange server.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Ravi.

  • speak to your exchange admins and ask them to add in the ip address of the server into the mail relay configuration, it needs to go into two places in SMTP relay, think its allow to connect and allow to send
