Hi all - I am somewhat new to the DB world - so please be gentle... 🙂
Is there a limit to the number of SQL databases you can place on an individual Lun in a clustered environment? Or are you limited only by the performance you receive from the database/disk?
We currently have one Lun that houses the data files for multiple databases and one Lun that houses the Logs for those same db's.
The SQL Instance is SQL Server 2005 on a Windows Server 2003 cluster.
Thanks for your help!

SQL just sees a LUN as a drive, so the only limits are the same ones as for a drive of any sort. So, you pretty much have a limit of about 32,000 databases, which is the limit for SQL Server on one server.
That's the hard ceiling. Beyond that, it's a question of I/O performance, and that's going to depend on a lot of variables.
