database file attachment error

  I have problem with  attaching my database file in SQL server 2003

  the problem is that my original database file is deleted.

  I have backup of this database file. when i try to attach this file following error is shown

  "The file you have specified is not a valid SQL server database file"

  I think the problem is with database file format.

  I want to know is there any way to restore/recover/correct database format of my database file ?

  I just want my database recovered safe and sound.

  Instead of attach, you'll probably want "Restore" from the backup

  Take a look at Restore Database in Books Online.
