Database Documentation

    Greetings to the group!

    I've been told that our Sarbanes-Oxley requirements include documentation of all of our databases.

    My thought is to generate the SQL scripts (through Enterprise Manager) for all objects in each database.

    Does this sound appropriate? How are others handling this? Some db management tool?

    Check out http://www.apexsql.com and you want to take a look at ApexSQL Doc.  This tools is awesome.  It can be run through a scheduled job and it creates a compiled help file with links between related objects and everything.

    I second the nomination;  ApexSQL Doc is a great tool for producing dynamic .chm file documentation.

    This is an old thread, but I just had to add that SqlSpec is better than apexsql doc for this purpose. But then I am biased - I wrote SqlSpec

    Seriously though, it's worth a look, and it's MUCH cheaper than apexsql doc.
