database access for reports - crystal reports

    I had a user request for access to a database. He mentioned odbc read access. When I checked with him, I found he wanted to run reports off crystal reports. Seems it was for himself, he was not publishing.

    In this case, I was not sure if he needed a sql login and connection string details,

    or I just need to add his domain login with read access to the Database, and he can go into crystal reports and be able to read data?

    Depends on how the report is setup.

    The credentials can be embedded in the crystal report in which case he just needs to be able to access the interface where he would enter in parameters and run the report.

    The report could also be configured to prompt the user for a sql login or to use the windows account of the user.

    So depends on the crystal setup.
