Hi,
I am looking for comparison between the various data modeling tools (like VSEA, ER/Studio, ERWin, Rational Rose etc) - supporting sql server 2000/2005, forward & reverse engg. --- comparison with respect to the prices, licenses, help documents, support etc.
I appreciate your suggestions.
Thanks

While you're considering these, consider your licensing options and how that works in your environment. In our shop, we started with 5 floating licenses years ago. This requires a license server on the network that must be accessible. This means you can't use the tool off-site. Worse, we now have a development environment which is isolated from the production environment. One of the benefits of these tools is being able to "reverse-engineer" one database (say production), make changes and apply those changes to a development database. You can also compare your model to an existing database. So now we need 2 sets of floating licenses and license servers, one in each environment. Unfortunately, fixed seat licenses are assigned to the machine, so you have to constantly switch this between environments.
