Creating a connection from VB

  I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this post,but hopefully it is!

  When we create a connection from a vb .net program we open the connection on program load and then close the connection on the program quit, is this the best method for SQL? or should we open and close the connection as we need it in the program?

  Any tips would be gratefully received!

  IMO, you should be opening and closing connections as needed, not holding a connection open as long as the program is open.
