Let me start this off by saying that I am new to sql about a week new. The original admin was just let go. The server is running 2005 standard edition. I cannot get a connection past the launch of Microsoft SQL server studio. I can see some information in the left panel by expanding the tree (databases, views, tables etc.) but if I try to look at the properties I get the message :

when you view the event log for the server it shows:
Could not connect because the maximum number of '2' user connections has already been reached. The system administrator can use sp_configure to increase the maximum value. The connection has been closed. [CLIENT: ]
I have read that I need to use sp_configure but as I am locked out of the query tools I cannot.
Sorry about my incompitence, any help is greatly appreciated.

Found a way to access the properties long enough to change the number of connections. I'm not sure how or why it worked but Hopefully I'll figure it out in class next week. Lastly thanks to everyone that took the time to at least read this post.
