Can a corrupted registry file wipe out an operating system? I made a change to the registry file yesterday. Today I had to re-boot my server and the server will not come back up.

yes playing around with the registry can destroy an OS and any application that uses the registry.

Yes it can. Any number of things are read from the registry during boot and if it's messed up, you can be stuck with a server you cannot recover.
backups would be good in this case.

Thank you for the replies. I was about to restore the backups and my server is back up.
