Hello all, I really need some help on this one, I am stuck. The scnario: My client has two servers, one is a web server(WIN2K/IIS5), the other is a databse server(WIN2K/SQLServer2K). Both of these servers are colocated with 2 different hosts and are shared servers. I do not have administrative permissions on both servers, cause they are shared with other businesses. Both servers drive my clients website(internet). Applications are ASP. Goal: Client has leased a dedicated server, where I have an administrative account, We are trying to migrate both the web server and the database server to the new server. I have been able to transfer all website files from the webserver to my development station using Dreamweaver MX. All my attempts to copy the database from the database server have failed due to lack of administrative permissions. DTS does work on some files and folders but not all. Pleases help me by making suggestions on replicating/copying/or whatever this database to my development station. I need the whole thing, i.e. files, objects, applications, SP, views, tables, data, etc. etc.

even this is a shared box, at least you must have SA rights to your "SQL". It's enough for you to DTS from the shared box to your new box. I am just taliking about SQL here. If you can DTS then you can have "everything".

Johnathan I can't use backup/restore don't have adequate permissions. hthan I was able to use DTS but it keeps stopping in the middle due to error 505 access denied. I think DTS is the way I m gonna have to do it though, I 'll just have to figure out the error and how to fix it. Any suggestions?

do you know what objects you have access denied to? anything in the SQL log?
I think you can't backup/restore since you don't have access to the physical files on the shared server.
