We have a site that was working fine on Windows 2000 and SQL Server 2000, but after moving to a more powerful server running Windows 2003 we've been having a lot of SQL problems with the ASP scripts on the site - namely "Timeout expired" and "SQL Server does not exist or access denied". The number of timeouts increase over time, until a reboot is a must. SQL Server and IIS run on the same machine. What steps would you recommend taking to pin down on this problem?

Run profiler and see exactly what is happening. Also perf mon to be sure that SQL has enough memory, CPU not stacked, etc. Brian Kelley has a great performance tuning guide.
I'd also look at pages having issues and check the query plans on these pages/queries. Might have issues since things have changed with the upgrade.
