Connecting with only the Server-Name not the FQDN

  • Dear Friends,

Can anybody advise on removing the dependency on connecting without the FQDN in the connection string. The connection is fine with the IP address notation but doesn't work when I provide the <ServerName\InstanceName> notation. The real problem is that, it doesn't allow to make a connection while I connect from 'Add Replica' wizard , as I have to add a replica and stuck at this point in the 'Add Replica'  Wizard. Neither does SQL server allow to provide IP address in the  'Add Replica' --> 'Connect' step.Thank you in advance.

    Best Regards

    Arshad
