Connecting to SQL Server installed on Virtual Server

    Hi all,

    We have one physical server and many virtual servers installed on that (not a virtual cluster) and each virtual server contains manu instances. My doubt is if i want to connect to the instance i2

    the should i connect using

    p1\i2 or v1\i2

    which is the correct one

    PHYSICAL SERVER VIRTUAL SERVER INSTANCE

    P1 V1 I1

    P1 V1 I2

    P1 V2 I3

    V1 i2, as you SQL instances are hosted on the virtual servers and not your physical.
