When connecting to just one specific named instance it will take up to 30 seconds to connect. During that time SSMS will give me a Not Responding message, and eventually the connection happens. Any navigation results in the same Not Responding message.
This problem does not happen when accessing the instance on the server, so in my mind it rules out any resource issues.
I've turned off the Windows firewall on my PC and when analyzing with ProcMon, not getting any "access denied" but plenty of other results other than Success.
Have disabled AV software on my PC to confirm that's not the problem.
Any thoughts?

Sounds like either a DNS or a network issue, the Browser Service uses UDP/1434.

must be a routing issue.
Check the path ( tracert ) which your connection has to follow to be able to connect to your instance.
