Computed columns Data Types

  • Good question. Learned something today which always makes for a good Friday. πŸ™‚

    Everything is awesome!

  • Nice QOTD Raul. πŸ™‚

I didn't give it a though and straightforwardly clicked the answer but just after clicking (in split of seconds before showing teh result), i thought i didn't even give it enough time. Luckily it was without any issues correct one. Need to keep little more patience. πŸ™‚

Raul, Gaz, thanks both. I should have known better than to assume SQL would apply some intelligence to the expression analysis! πŸ˜‰

Odd, though, in the table designer, how the 'Allow Nulls' and 'Data Type' attributes get blanked for computed columns - no hints at all there about what is going on in its tiny mind...

It would probably not be a bad thing if MS got to know that a lot of people think that this grossly oversimplified rule for computed column nullability is silly. I doubt if it would actually do any good, though.

Anyway, a nice easy question to end the week.
