What components should be installed for developers who only need a client? Using the SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition, I have been installing the components workstation and integration service. Do they need integration services to create SSIS (formally DTS) packages?
The description of the component makes it sound like it is needed.
Integration Services
Integration Services is a set of graphical tools and programmable objects for moving, copying, and transforming data.

It depends on what you're developing. For example, if you're doing development of SSIS packages you'll only need to install BI Dev Studio which is part of the Client Components install. If you are going to need database access and want a GUI you should install Management Studio.
