M facing a very odd problem.
I have 2 servers, one in data layer & the other in application layer.
When I run cc.exe to find out the MDAC version installed on the server, then for one server it reports as MDAC 2.7 SP1, while on the other server it reports as UNKNOWN & following is what it displays:
The following product releases were matched: UNKNOWN
When I close this window & check the registry it displays everything fine.
The actual version installed on the server for which cc.exe reports unknown is MDAC 2.7 Service Pack 1 Refresh.
SQL 8 with SP3 is installed. There are no errors that I am recieving & its not that my applications are down but I couldn't understand why it is showing as unknown.
Could it be that some dlls are corrupted & it may not be causing any issues as of now but it could possibly become a problem later. I am planning to get the sfc run & see if everything works fine...
Can someone please guide me on this ...

It could be that cc.exe doesn't know about the refresh. I'd report this as a bug to Microsoft.
