When evaluating various cloud database platforms, it's not just about SQL features or who can offer the best deal on hosting. Some of these platforms offer amazing scalability.
I was evaluating Snowflake a while back. The free trial comes with a shared 100 TB sample database. Yeah, I said 100 TB - not MB or GB. Dialing up the warehouse size to what they call 4X-Large, which is I believe 128 CPU, I was running some complex analytic queries that join tables with 100s billions of rows, and it was completing within minutes. Also, the fact that they can share a database across thousands of trial subscriptions in the first place is impressive.
