Class Not Registered Error...

  • We have a test server that contains SQL Server 2014. When I'm RDP'd into the box I can access the Integration Services on that box. When I try to add Integration Services from my desktop SQL Server 2008 R2 I get an error that states:

Connecting to the Integration Services service on the computer "appdev2014" failed with the following error: "Class not registered".

Any help/direction would be appreciated. Thanks.:(

  • What do you mean by this, please? What is being 'added' to what?

  • Sorry for the non-clarification. I've got SQL Server Management Studio version 2008 R2 loaded on my laptop.

When I try to "ADD" in my object explorer Integration Services for APPDEV2014 after I've loaded the Database Engine APPDEV2014 I get the error I typed above.

Hope that is more clear. Thanks.

Apologies for my lack of understanding. Do you mean when you try to Connect? I cannot seem to find any 'ADD' function in my version of SSMS.

  • Yes when I click the CONNECT button in my Connect to Server dialog box.

    Thanks.

Yes when I click the CONNECT button in my Connect to Server dialog box.

    Thanks.

Then I guess that there is some sort of version issue (accessing SSIS 2014 from SSMS 2008).

Can you install SSMS 2014 locally and try from that to confirm?

  • Thanks Phil for your time. I will try that at my earliest opportunity. Unfortunately I'm working on another issue now and won't get back to this until later in the week.
