  I want to change the port sql 2005 listens on from the default but can't find where to do it. Any ideas?

  Finally found it!

  Sql Server Configuration Manager >

  Sql Native Client Configuration  > Client Protocols

  > double-click (e.g. ) TCP/IP.

  "Default port" is top item.

   

  The server has it's own settings
