changing from NO RECOVERY to STANDBY

  on my primary instance i changed the monitor server from NO RECOVERY to STANDBY. It did not have any effect, and the secondry database on the secondry server is still in NO RECOVERY mode. Do I have to reinitialize LOG SHIPPING for this chage to take effect?
