I currently have 2005 sp1 on a Windows 7 workstation.
I downloaded the 2005sp4 install from Microsoft but when I come to run it, the database and analysis services options are checked out and I can't choose them.
Out of curiosity, I tried to install 2005 sp2 and got exactly the same problem...
Is there special magic required to install these service packs?

have you got the right versions of the patches (32 bit rather than 64 bit say?)

Not sure...
I have the 32 bits version and I am using a 32 bits virtual machine within a 64 bits Windows 7 host.
I would have thought that 32bits is what I need...

9.00.5057 is SP4 + security patch MS11 -049 - you are already completely up to date so nothing to upgrade.
