Can't start SQL Server Agent after applying latest security patch

  • If I backed up the msdb from the Good Server, could I simply restore it to the Bad Server, or does msdb contain server-specific info that would kill this idea?

  • Maybe you should open this up as a new thread so you can get more response for your particular issues.

AWE only applies to Enterprise, doesn't it?

no, under sql2005 AWE applies to 32bit Std, Dev and Ent as does the lock pages in memory option.

Under sql2005 64bit only Ent uses the lock pages in memory function.

  • One thing I found out is that taking the group NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM out of the SysAdmin group made it so I could not start a service (Agent or otherwise) after I stopped it.
