Can't connect; Login failed.

  • Hi,

I am trying to enter an application on a client PC, (application is MS Dynamics GP which uses sql server logins)

When I try to enter the password, it says

Login failed. Contact your system adminsitrator.

I checked the sql logs which say

    Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 8.

I checked and made sure that the password is correct from SSMS.

I dont have a clue why is it failing?

    Regards,

    Sushant

  • check if you have a default database set for this login ID.

  • Connecting to the wrong server? Caps lock on? Fat fingers? You're really going to have to work this one out for yourself, since none of us know what your password is. What do you mean you checked from SSMS? Try changing the password so that you know exactly what it is and then logging in again.

I chekced from ODBC, the server is right.

    Caps lock off

I changed password from SSMS and then try to log in with changed password and it is not going in.

Was the user account created through Dynamics? We found that the application would fail unless the account was created through dynamics.
