Cannot drop distribution database

I have got full permissions on the folder.

But i did not take the backup of the files before deleting them

This is why organisations have change control procedures, to stop scenarios such as these, you've just made a bad situation 10 times worse, congratulations. Think yourself lucky I'm not your line manager, you'd be typing your resume at home by now.

The iSCSI LUN that held the data previously, has this been destroyed or is it still available, check with your storage admin, is there a backup of this LUN??

  • actually this had all happened before I joined the organisation.

Previous DBA had removed the replication but left the distribution database at it is.

When I enquired about it, I was told that we no longer needed replication and that was the reason why it had been removed.

I had already asked that question to our storage team, and they no longer have the old LUN
