Cannot delete instapi110.dll file

  • HELP!

I am trying to following the instructions here to remove SQL server and get my shared files reinstalled on the proper drive. But WmiPrvSE.exe and Monitoring Agent for Windows OS - Primary keep putting locks on the damn file. I've tried several times to stop the WMI in Services and kill the WmiPrvSE.exe processes (of which there are several), but it's not helping. They restart and grab that lock before I have time to delete the file.

Can anyone advise? This is driving me nuts!

Quick suggestion, boot into safe mode, make certain the services are not running and do your thing;-)

  • Hmm. I've never tried to boot into safe mode on a server to which I only have remote access. I'll look into this and see if it's possible.
