Cannot create databases (Win Server 2008 / SQL Server 2005)

  I installed SQL Server Express Advanced Edition 2005 on Windows Server 2008, and, although the installation completed, I cannot, say, create new databases from within SQL Server Management Studio.

  Has anyone encountered similar issues?

  What is happening? Or what isn't happening? You haven't provided much information. Is SSMS running? Can you connect to the instance?
