Can you do your job as a telecommuter?

  • The article forgot to mention time zones. My colleagues are about to go to bed.

I'm currently sitting in the Philippines, about 11,000 miles from home. I've been here for almost a year.

The team I interact with most is in Dallas. Another team I interact a lot with is in North Carolina. It's not unusual to interact with a colleague in Mexico. Another is in southeast Asia.

The article was somewhat close to reality.

  • How do you communicate with your co-worker?

It sounds liked out-sourcing to me.  I used to work with people in India.  Those people worked late until around 9 am our time (probably 11 pm their time.) for meeting.  When they sent the work over,  if something went wrong, I had to send it back and wrote an email to tell them to re-work again.

Most of the time, I did the change myself.  I am an impatience person, just can't wait for another 12 hours.

  • Nope. I'm not outsourced. I'm part of a worldwide organization.

Most communication is by email. That's true whether I'm sitting in Asia, Dallas, or North Carolina.
