Can you create a Linked server From 2005 to Sql Server 7?

    Can you even do this?  I somehow recall you can't, but it may be with an Express version instead of full blown SQL 2005?

    I have.  The OLEDB driver does not seem to have a problem with it.  My biggest SQL 7 compatibility issue is that the Lookup component in SSIS cannot connect to it for some reason.  Linked servers seem to work as usual (although they are always pretty ugly).

    I have a linked server between 2005 and 2000.

    HOWEVER, I did hear that you may have issues if your 2005 server is running 64 bits while the 2000 server is not.

    Has anyone ever experienced that?
