BizTalk 2009 and SQl 2008 Unable to communicate with MessageBox BizTalkMsgBoxDb on SQL Instance sqlbizprod\bizinstance. Error Code: 0xc0c01b45.

  • Hi All,

    We have BizTalk 2009 looking to a SQL 2008 Database hosted on clustered Server 2008 R2 Servers. We frequently have issues with the BizTalk services not being able to communicate with SQL, they then crash and restart and work again. This happens 2-3 times a day, little annoying to say the least. I've come across the following posts that seem like they could be related but I'm not seeing much of a solution.

    Errors we see on the BizTalk client include the following;

    Unable to communicate with MessageBox BizTalkMsgBoxDb on SQL Instance sqlbizprod\bizinstance. Error Code: 0xc0c01b45.

    Error message: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionRead (recv()).]General network error. Check your network documentation.

    BizTalk host name: MSMQ_Host

    Windows service name: BTSSvc$MSMQ_Host

    We don't see any errors logged on the SQL server (at least any place I've thought to check). Our software developers have also opened a case with Microsoft support who have been blaming Antivirus, Nic teaming, etc, but we have now eliminated all of those and still have the issues. The servers have lots of resources (78GB of RAM and 4 way quad core Xeon processors in the SQL boxes).

    I'd appreciate any thoughts or suggestions,

    Dave

  • We are seeing the same issue and have packet captures from the BT and SQL servers.

    The BT server is sending requests but, for some reason, the SQL server is ignores, apparently randomly, the tcp packets for the next TDS request and the client bombs out. We see 5 retransmits and a connection reset, sometimes some tcp keep-alives before that - none are ACK'd when the issue occurs.

    Windows Server 2008 R2 clustered running SQL Server 2008 R2. Loads of resources. SQL Server is not busy at all.

    Any updates?
