Beta Test New Features

  • We are fevorishly developing new features at SQLServerCentral to be released in the next few months. As these become close to completion, we'll open them up for beta testing. This week, we're hoping to launch a few items:

    * Events - Post your events (local or national) to share with others

    * Live Chatting - (SQL Server related only please )

The events calander can be found at http://www.sqlservercentral.com/forum/events.asp

While the chat can be found at http://www.sqlservercentral.com/forum/chatlog.asp

Please let me know (webmaster@sqlservercentral.com) of any problems or suggestions on these.

  • If I add an event and then the date for the event changes or the event is cancelled will I be able to make these changes or do I have to contact someone at SQL Server Central to make the changes?

  • You bet. By selecting the date, you can hit the pencil to edit the item.

Perhaps we need a count of online people in the menu (under the Home | Articles) area for example, clickable to go to the chat room.

    Just a thought.

  • We need to refine our search a little better. Lot of times, when i search for an item, i do not get what i am looking for but i know i read it in here and got to do some digging and finally get it. We definitely need a good search engine.

  • Only thing I think of with the event calendar is that on months with no inputs the calendar is extremely narrow. Might want to set a width on it to keep look consistant. Other than that I lik the calendar and need to have time whne more poeple in chat to really get a good feel for it.

  • We're currently using SQL full text search for our search engine. Can you give me an example of something you had trouble finding, give me an idea of what to work on? Our preference would be to enhance what we have, but we're open to other methods if we cant make FTS work well enough.
