Best material to learn SSIS

  • Hi,

I need to get up to speed on SSIS Asap. I've used DTS /SQL 2000 to move data around from text files, excel, access and have developement experience with T-SQL. Any thoughts on the best material that is also concise so I don't have to carrry around a 1000 page book?

    Thanks!

I would recommend this book. This is the best title you can find on the market.

That's the "EXPERT" volume by Brian Knight's (and others). It's a good book, but NOT appropiate for learning SSIS. It assumes an already extensive knowledge of SSIS and most of the basics are not covered.

I would instead recommend this book. It's the "PRO" edition by Brian Knight (et al), but for 2008. I suggest the 2008 version because the 2005 version had many mistakes that were fixed in this book. Plus there really isn't that much difference between SSIS in 2005 & 2008.

As for concise? Unless, you can find a Ebook, forget about it. All of the books that are even halfway good are real bricks.
