Become SQL Server 2008 certified professional

  • Dear All,

I was planned to do write for SQL Server 2005 certification exam 70-431 for Microsoft Certified Technical specialist. But my friend suggested me to do the 2008 certification namely 70-432.

Can anyone suggest me which one I can go for?

    Thanks.

  • Another option is to do the 70-431 then the upgrade exam for for SQL 2008.

  • Some good info here: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/sql/2008/default.mspx

I don't think there will be a lot of difference between these exams in terms of content. If you are working with 2008 now, take that exam. If you're not, then passing the exam doesn't give you much credibility. If you're working with 2005, passing the exam shows you can prove some skills to go with your experience. Or at least you can sell it that way.

  • It is really upto you what you want to specialise on.

In my opinion you can do MCITP for SQL 2005 and then later upgrade it to MCITP SQL 2008 (appearing for an upgrade exam) which will give you a good grip in both versions. That is what I am tending to do.
