Basic availability group

  • Hi,
    Sql: sqlserver2016 standard edition
Trying to setup basic availability groups .
Are the four different ips required for four basic availability groups ?
We have one application using these four databases.
Need to provide one listener name/ ip for the application connection.

    Thanks.

  • Yes, with Basic Availability Groups you can only have 1 x database and IP assigned per BAG.
If you applications needs 1 x connection string/listener name, BAGs won't work for you.

There is an alternative using address forwarding, but I will not recommend it.
