Hi,
Have fairly standard backup policy of full backup at night and then trn backups every 30 minutes during the working day.
If the main backup fails, would you still be able to use the previous days backup and then just use the trn backups from before and after the failed backup to get you to the right point.
I guess what Im really asking is does SQL reset the LSN at the start or end of a full backup...

You you can use the previous backup, and the subsequent log backups. While the full backups contain part of the log that is relevant to the period of the full backup, the log backups are contiguous, and the full backups do not affect this.
