Backup from Standby

    Would replicating a production database to a standby sqlserver and then doing backups from the standy server be a good idea?

    I would think that taking the backup load off the production server would be a good thing. But then again does replication put more load on the production server the a backup?

    My guess is that replication will put a much higher load on your production server than just a plain backup will. Replication can also have administrative overheads. IMHO you should stick with backups.
