Good day experts,
I have experience upgrading SQL Server versions on on-premises VMs, but I'm new to managing SQL Server instances on Azure SQL VM. Is the process for upgrading the SQL Server version in Azure SQL VM the same as doing it on an on-prem VM? Are there any additional steps or considerations I should be aware of?
Any advice or best practices would be greatly appreciated

a VM is always a VM - no difference from being a Vmware vm, or a hyper-v vm (on prem or on cloud) - its all the same internally.
creating snapshots of the vm is what differs - but this is not directly related to the upgrade.
