  • BY adding 3GB switch in boot.ini in a 4gb ram computer we can make

3gb available to sql server in 32 bit right.\

if we add thd 3GB switch in 32gb win2003 enterprise edition, it is said that only 16GB is available to the operating system how it is calculated

IT SHOULD BE 32-3 =29GB TO BE AVAILABLE TO THE SYSTEM

    THANKS

  • Taken from the following article: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/server/PAE/PAEmem.mspx

"When the physical RAM in the system exceeds 16 GB and the /3GB switch is used, the operating system will ignore the additional RAM until the /3GB switch is removed."

  • means until we remove 3GB switch

total ram/2. One part is to kernel and one to user mode operations

that is what you say sure please confirm

    thanks for the reply
