  • I just find it incredible that on a SQL Server community site you would be advertising a product (or service) which has absolutely nothing to do with the objectives of the Community.

When joining a forum/community, at least observe and understand the norms of that community.  While the specific forum topic is titled "Anything this is NOT about SQL", that is not to be construed as an open invitation to promote or advertise products or services.

Prior to this post, you had only 2 others on technical matters.  It is best to build a track record of questions and/or answers before diverting so far off-topic from the community objectives (SQL Server).  Any such diversion is an open invitation for the non-topic item to be considered as spam....typical spam(bots) often lands here and in other forums from people with just 1 or 2 posts who have no/little track record on the site.

There is in general no problem with going off-topic, but it needs to be done after members have had a chance to get to know you (from your track record here), and in a manner which does not lend itself to you having a beneficial interest in the new subject matter.

Remember that "spam" is any mail or post that is unsolicited and in general is not relevent or not appropriate to the "conventions/rules" of the community, especially from a source that has no/minimal  history of regular posts.  This qualifies on all 4 counts.

I doubt that I would be the only person to classify this item as spam...but I may just have been the 1st to write it down!

  • Hi Andrew,

I agree with your points. Let it be spam for you. I beleive atleast few 100's will love this...Because we people are away from our homeland and this site gives us a good chance to put headset to our ears and enjoy the music and do the work parallely...If you want to remove please go-ahead and remove the post...Just i wished to share this site that's it....

  • SPAM? i don't think this meets the definition of SPAM. It is in the right forum, the Topic is pretty self-explanitory, it is not trying to sell a competitive product.

If this is SPAM, than please SPAM away with useful info (for some people) like this.

  • Thanks Ron....For Understanding the things and explaining the things...

  • Aaaaah! this is music to my ears!

  • I agree with Andrew Murphy. This is absolute 'SPAM' where this site is being maintained to delve deep into SQL Server and its releavant topic. There are many articles that was posted by learned members and we don't have enough time to spend in order to read those excellent articles.

Secondly, we don't need to maintain a recreation activities to keep the readers happy just because we are away from the homeland. In other words, it's ethics.

    With Best,

    Ram
