Analysis Services SP4 install fails

    Hi,

    I installed Analysis services(2000) on windows 2003 server. Install completed sucessfully. But when I tried to apply SP4 for analysis services it fails in between with error

    An error occured in Data move process : -132  . It happens when set up copies the files. (about 6 %).

    I tried rebooting the server and trying it again. Also I checked a microsft article which mentions to check for Rootdir value in registry.

    Rootdir exists in registry with correct value.

    This server already has SQL Server 2000 with SP4 running on it.

    I greatly appreciate any help. I  do nto knwo whatelse to check or try.

    Hi Shyam,

    This problem may occur when the service pack installation cannot update certain files that uses by other servicesthat are running on the computer.

    While installing SP4, make sure below mention service is stopped.

    WMI--Windows Management Instrumentation.

    After installation you should start the service.

    Thanks a lot for your response. I was able to install it by turning down few services including the WMI you mentioned. I greatly appreciate your help.

    Also I found the below KB article for the issue which mentions to stop few services

    Stopping WMI did the trick for me as well when that error occurred.  Thank you!  It is a shame that is not a prerequesite to the installation of SP4 for Analysis Services.

    stopping WMI fixed my problem also.
