Hello,
I have a database from 2000 that is a winzip file (oes.cab)and I am trying to restore it on a 2005 system. When I attempt to acess the restore function, it appears to be looking for a .asdatabase file type. Did this change between 2000 and 2005 - why can't i seem to restore a .cab file on 2005?
Thanks for any help you can provide

Hi Michael,
I haven't tried to restore a 2000 AS DB to a 2005 one but I would imagine that it wouldn't work. The file structure of the cubes in the two versions is quite different. One of the easiest ways to go forward would be to restore to a 2000 machine and then use the import functionality of the 2005 dev environment to bring the cube in to 2005. Note that a lot of functionality has changed and some features won't/can't be brought through from 2000 -> 2005.

I also feel that what steve has mentioned is correct. As lot of changes has happened between AS2K and AS2K5 it may not be possible to restore directly. If you still manage to do so then let us know your trick.
All the best,
Sanjay
