Hello Steve,
First - Thank you for taking time to write this article and help us understand more on SQL.
Please help me. In your subtopic - Creating a DMK, you say ... as each database can only contain on DMK. Should I assume this is a typo and should be one.
Thank you,
Kind regards,
Iliia

Yes, fixing it now. One DMK per database

Hi Steve
When i try to add an extra password to the DMK i get the error below:
Msg 15581, Level 16, State 7, Line 23
Please create a master key in the database or open the master key in the session before performing this operation.
So to confirm to create additional keys i must know the original password to open the DMK if i restore the database to a new server not hosting the same master database because the DMK is encrypted by the SMK.
Is this true?
Kal
