Event viewer says:
The description for Event ID ( 9724 ) in Source ( MSSQL$SQLMEASP ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: [dbo].[sp_sysmail_activate], msdb.dbo.ExternalMailQueue, Could not create DatabaseMail90.exe process. Executing API 'CreateProcess' failed with error number 3..
What is the solution to this please. I have SQL 2005 SP2!

I've seen a fix for db mail in a cumulative update for sp3, sql 2005. Is that it, by chance?

I think our infrastructure team just did a "repair" installation to fix it. Not a nice solution but it worked :-D.
